Book Your Blood Draw

Your test kit has arrived. Now you need a certified phlebotomist to collect your sample. Use the finder below to locate a mobile phlebotomist near you — they come to your home, office, or a convenient location and handle everything from there.

Three steps from kit to lab

01
Your kit arrives
Your test kit is sent directly to your home from Nordic Labs or Regenerus. It contains everything the phlebotomist needs — collection tubes, labels, instructions, and a prepaid return envelope for the lab.
02
Book your draw
Use the Phleb Finder below to locate a certified mobile phlebotomist near you. They come to you — at home, at work, or wherever is convenient. Bring your test kit to the appointment.
03
Sample to lab
The phlebotomist collects your sample using the kit's tubes and instructions. You then post it to the lab using the prepaid packaging provided. Results are typically returned within 5–10 working days.
Before your appointment — important

Bring your test kit. The phlebotomist uses the collection tubes and labels from your specific kit — do not use generic tubes. Each test has specific tube requirements and incorrect collection invalidates the sample.

Fasting requirements. Some tests require fasting (typically 10–12 hours, water permitted). Stephen will confirm whether your specific test requires fasting — check your test instructions or message hello@detective-health.com if unsure.

Timing. Most hormone tests (particularly DUTCH Plus) are not blood draws — they use urine and dried urine collection at home. The tests requiring a blood draw are Nordic Labs blood chemistry panels, Regenerus panels, and specific add-on blood markers. Confirm with Stephen which of your tests require phlebotomy.

Randox tests are collected at a Randox clinic directly — you do not need a mobile phlebotomist for Randox. Use this service for Nordic Labs and Regenerus blood draw tests only.

Your blood draw appointment

What the phlebotomist will do
Arrive at your chosen location at the agreed time — typically a 30–45 minute appointment
Use the collection tubes from your test kit — not generic tubes — to ensure the correct sample type for your specific test
Label samples using your test kit's pre-printed labels with your unique patient ID
Complete any paperwork or request forms included in your kit
Return the collected samples to you in the prepaid return packaging provided with your kit
After your draw

Post your samples to the lab the same day if possible — most test kits include a prepaid tracked return envelope. Check your kit instructions for the recommended posting day (some tests specify avoiding Friday/weekend posting to prevent samples sitting in transit over the weekend).

Results are returned directly to Stephen at Detective Health. You'll receive an email when your results are back and Stephen will arrange a results review session.

Phlebotomy FAQ

How much does a mobile blood draw cost?
Bloods & Beyond phlebotomist fees vary by location and are shown when you search in the Phleb Finder. A typical mobile blood draw costs £30–£60. This fee is separate from your test kit cost and is paid directly to the phlebotomist at booking.
Can I use any phlebotomist, not the Phleb Finder?
Yes — if you have an existing relationship with a GP surgery, private clinic, or phlebotomist who will collect samples using your test kit tubes, that is perfectly acceptable. The key requirement is that they use the tubes and labels from your specific kit rather than their own generic collection materials.
What if I can't find a phlebotomist in my area?
Contact Stephen at hello@detective-health.com and we'll help identify alternative options including local private clinics that accept test kit draws, or alternative collection arrangements.
Do I need to fast before my blood draw?
It depends on your specific test. Blood chemistry panels including lipid profiles, fasting insulin, and glucose require 10–12 hours fasting (water is fine). Hormonal panels and most micronutrient tests do not require fasting. Your test kit instructions will specify, and Stephen will confirm at the point of ordering.
What time of day should I have my blood draw?
For most blood panels, morning collection (before 10am where possible) gives the most consistent results — particularly for cortisol-adjacent markers, iron, and hormones that have diurnal variation. Your test kit instructions will note any specific timing requirements.
How do I get my results?
Results are sent directly to Stephen at Detective Health. You do not need to chase the lab. Stephen will contact you when results are received — typically 5–10 working days after the lab receives your sample — to arrange a results review session.
